Herb to about 30 cm or more tall. Leaves 1-4, stalkless, to 15 cm long, 2.5 cm wide. First bract tubular. Flower clusters of 2-5 yellow flowers, each to nearly 10 cm long in a stalked spike, lip bent back; spring.
