Anigozanthos flavidus Redoute & DC.

Tall Kangaroo Paw

A clumping perennial with a thick rhizome and branched flower stems to 2 m tall. Flowers 3-4 cm long, tubular, the lobes not bent back against the tube, yellowish green to pink, orange, red or multi-coloured; Nov.-Dec.

SW Western Australia

Perhaps the most resilient and hardy of the kangaroo paws but nevertheless susceptible to frost damage.

Hybridisation programs using A. flavidus as the major parent have produced floriferous, vigorous, disease-resistant lines. The popular Bush series of cultivars are widely grown. Well known cultivars include A. 'Pink Joey' and wide range of colour variants.
