Vriesea rodigasiana E.Morren

Leaves many in dense rosette, 16-35 cm long, wholly green or tinged or spotted with dark purple; sheaths much wider than blades and up to same length; blades ligulate, arching-recurved, 2-4 cm wide. Scape erect, 20 cm long, with elliptic bracts, purple. Inflorescence laxly bipinnate, sub-pyramidal, 12-36 cm long; branches spreading, laxly 3-7 flowered; floral bracts distichous, 10-17 mm long, much shorter than sepals, yellow; sepals yellow, petals 3 cm long, yellow; stamens protruding.
