Nidularium fulgens Lem.

Leaves 15-20 in a broad spreading rosette, 30-40 cm long, 3-6 cm wide; sheaths much wider than the blades, entire; blades ligulate, broadly pointed with a short spine, laxly serrate with spines 4 mm long, pale green. Inflorescence sunk in the centre of the rosette, head-like, many-flowered; primary bracts large, broadly ovate, coarsely serrate, bright red, sometimes the tip green; floral bracts white, entire, scaled; sepals 2-2.4 cm long, red; petals 5 cm long, dark blue with white margins, hooded.
