Leaves linear, 20-30 cm long, 2.5 cm wide, inner wine coloured with large pale green spots; sheaths almost as long as the blades and forming a bag-like tank; inflorescence simple, about equalling the leaf sheaths, few-flowered; flower stalks to 10 mm; sepals red-purple; petals blue-violet.
