Ananas bracteatus (Lindl.) Schult.

Leaves to 1.5 m x 4 cm; margins with long, coarse, ascending spines. Scape 50-60 cm; floral bracts conspicuous, covering the ovaries, toothed. Flowers with violet petals. Fruit large, succulent, orange-red.
