Trunks solitary, to over 10 m tall, covered with dark grey fibre and long spines. Leaves crowded, in a rounded crown, greyish-green. Leaflets flexible, shortly divided and pointed at the tips. Panicles dense, covered in creamy white flowers. Fruit globose, about 1-1.8 cm wide, white to cream.

The genus Trithrinax is in need of revision and this species is sometimes included with T. brasiliensis Mart.
Very hardy palm. Needs full sun and excellent drainage. Frost tolerant.
