Trunks 2-3, each 1 -2 cm thick, many basal suckers. Leaves to 1 m long, arching. Leaflets 6 or 7 pairs, dark green, irregular, outer margins toothed. Flower spikes to 40 cm long. Fruit about 1.5 cm long, ellipsoid, pink, red or yellow.

Excellent tub plant and useful indoors. Frost tender and needs shade and relatively high humidity.
L. apetiolata Dowe & A.K. Irvine is an attractive small clustering species from highland parts of Mt Lewis, Queensland. It is also cultivated on a limited scale.
L. microcarya (Domin) Burret and L. palmeriana (F.M. Bailey) Burret, both from North-eastern Queensland, are clustering palms similar to L. minor.
