Stems very thin, wiry. Leaves to 70 cm long, with scattered spines and hooks. Leaflets 6-12, relatively broad, pale green, tips jagged. Panicles to 2.5 m long. Fruit about 1.2 cm wide, globose, cream.

Occurs naturally in highland rainforests.

Easily grown in a shady situation.
