Clump-forming herb to 50 cm high from a spreading rhizome. Leaves numerous, rosette-forming, broadly linear, perennial. Inflorescence stout, bracteate, not exceeding the leaves. Flowers numerous, spreading, to 6 mm wide; summer. Tepals pale yellow. Fruit red.
Japan and China
Grown as a garden ornamental or indoor plant in light to heavy shade.
