Perennial herb to 40 cm high from a stout rhizome. Leaves linear, perennial, 2-ranked. Flowers numerous, tiny, spreading, to 5 mm wide; two forms, one with projecting and one with included anthers occur on different plants; summer.Tepals white tinged lilac or pinkish. Syn. A. yedoensis Makino.
