Perennial herb to about 70 cm. Leaves several, basal, linear. Inflorescence several-flowered. Flowers funnel-shaped, erect to spreading; individual flower stalks shorter than to longer than flower length; summer. Tepals to 18 mm long, white or rarely blue; tube shorter than lobes. Stamens 6. Ovary much longer than its stalk. Fruit many-seeded. [Brodiaea lactea (Lindl.) S.Wats.]

T. ixioides (Ait.) Greene, Pretty Face, from California is a perennial herb to about 60 cm. Leaves several, basal, linear. Inflorescence several-flowered. Flowers funnel-shaped, erect to spreading; individual flower stalks equalling or exceeding flower length; summer. Tepals to 22 mm long, yellow with a darker central line; tube shorter than lobes. Stamens 6, with bifid projections. Ovary longer than its stalk. Fruit many-seeded. [Brodiaea lactea (Lindl.) S.Wats.]
