D. pulchellum (Salisb.) Heller, Blue Dicks, from California to Oregon is a perennial herb to about 90 cm. Leaves several, basal, linear. Inflorescence many-flowered. Flowers short tubular, erect to spreading; summer. Tepals to 20 mm long, purple. Stamens 3+3, united, stamen tube with bifid appendages. Fruit many-seeded.
