Narcissus papyraceus Ker Gawl.

Paperwhite

Bulbs dark-coloured, to 6-7 cm wide. Leaves flate, slightly waxy blue, to 40 cm or so long and about 1 cm wide. Flower clusters 3-20 per cluster, white, fragrant; winter to spring. Flowers 2-4 cm wide. Perianth tube 1-2.5 cm long with lobes to 2 cm long, overlapping and spreading; corona white, the margin slightly wavy.

SW Europe, Mediterranean

This species is probably better known through former subspecies N. papyraceus subsp. panizzianus (Parl.) Arcangeli which is now N. panizzianus Parl. from SW Europe, France and Italy and differs in having much smaller flowers to 2.5 cm wide.
