Hoop-petticoat Daffodil

Bulb white to maroon, 1.5-2 cm wide. Leaves thin, more or less cylindrical, to 40 cm or so, longer than flower stems. Flowers solitary, golden to orange-yellow or greenish, hardly fragrant, held more or less horizontally; winter to spring. Perianth segments narrow; corona to about 2.5 cm long, stamens bent backwards but more or less enclosed in the corona.

Similar species include: winter- to spring- flowering N. romieuxii Braun-Blanquet & Maire from Morocco which has a flower stalk less than 5 mm long and stamens protruding from the corolla; winter-flowering N. cantabricus DC. from Spain, Morocco and Algeria which has flowers white, sometimes suffused with green and the stamens enclosed.
