Perennial branched twining vine or shrub to about 5 m with tuberous roots. Leaves numerous, aerial, linear to broadly ovate. Inflorescence terminal and in upper leaf axils. Flowers numerous, nodding; spring to summer. Tepals to 7 mm long, spreading, pink, inner 3 broader and fimbriate; anthers fused. Fruit a bright orange fleshy capsule. Seeds black with edible white appendages.
E Australia, SE Asia and the Pacific.
Grown in full sun to light shade.
