Anthurium scherzerianum Schott

Plants with short stems and clustered leaves. Leaf blades narrow, elliptic to lanceolate, to about 25 cm long and 5 cm wide, dotted on both surfaces; stalks thin. Inflorescence stalk red. Spathe bent back, to 10 cm long, shiny, orange to scarlet. Spadix coiled. Fruit orange to red berry.

A number of ornamental cultivars based on this species are available with larger and more colourful spathes. The collective name A. × hortulanum Birdsey has been proposed for these.
