Clump-forming more or less woody shrub to about 1 m high from a short rhizome. Leaves numerous, 2 ranked, perennial, linear, stiff, sheathing. Inflorescence a terminal branched panicle. Flowers numerous, to 1.5 cm wide, nodding; late spring. Tepals blue or white. Fruit an irregular fleshy capsule.
