Osette perennial herb with thickened roots from a thick corm-like rhizome. Inflorescence to 70 cm. Leaves linear, flat, sheathing. Flowers numerous, spreading, to 2.5 cm wide; spring-summer.Tepals bright yellow with dark midvein in bud. Stamens all bearded. Syn. Bulbinopsis bulbosa Borzi.

Occasionally grown in gardens in full sun to light shade.

B. semibarbata (R. Br.) Haw., Leek Lily from WA, SA, Qld, NSW, Vic, Tas is a rosette annual or short-lived perennial herb with thickened roots. Inflorescence to 35 cm. Leaves linear, sheathing. Flowers numerous, spreading, to 1 cm wide; spring-summer. Tepals bright yellow with a dark midvein in bud. Inner 3 stamens bearded. Syn. Bulbinopsis semibarbata Borzi. A locally common native spring flowering plant occasionally grown in gardens in full sun to light shade.
