Watsonia marginata (L.f.) Ker Gawl.

Leaves 25-60 cm long, 2-5 cm wide, blue-green; margins thickened, yellowbrown. Spike to 120 cm tall with 10-20 flowers plus many appressed branches, often twisted or bent; late spring. Spathes lanceolate, papery, 10-18 mm long. Perianth pale mauve, sometimes flecked with purple; upper tube about 7 mm long, funnel-shaped, 4-5 mm wide at the mouth; segments obovate, apiculate, flared, 16-22 mm long, 10-13 mm wide. Stamens symmetrically arranged.

Hybrid Cultivar 'CURVIFLORA' Saxophone Watsonia. A hybrid with W. borbonica; its flower spike is always bent into a J-curve and the flowers are larger with broad overlapping segments to 3 cm long.
