Libertia grandiflora (R.Br.) Sweet

New Zealand Iris

Leaves to 90 cm long, 15 mm wide, dull green. Stems to 100 cm, overtopping the leaves, with fine branches diverging at a wide angle. Flowers 20-35 mm wide, white, on stalks much longer than spathes; spring. Outer perianth segments olivebronze on back, keeled; inner segments rounded, 10-15 mm long.

L. paniculata (R. Br.) Spreng., Branching Grass Flag from Qld, NSW and Vic has leaves 24-60 cm long, 5-12 mm wide, dark green. Stem much shorter than leaves, with fine branches diverging at a wide angle. Spathes 1-4 cm long. Flowers white, 17-25 mm wide, on stalks 10 mm long; late spring. Outer perianth segments acute, 6-8 mm long; inner segments blunt, 8-13 mm long. Anthers cream.
