Swamp Iris

Rhizome wiry. Leaves erect, sword-shaped, 10-20 mm wide. Stem 90-140 cm tall, leafy, few-branched. Flowers 8-12 cm wide, white; late spring.Tube 7-10 mm long. Falls 7-8 cm long with long claw, large golden-yellow signals. Standards erect, oblanceolate, 6-7 cm long. Style branches oblong, about 5 cm long. Syn. I. ochroleuca L.

Greece and Turkey.

I. ×monnieri DC., growing to 85 cm tall with pale yellow flowers, is probably a hybrid of this species with I. xanthospuria Mathew & Baytop.

Spuria hybrids are bred from I. spuria, I. crocea and others in series Spuriae. Their flowers are 8-11 cm wide, beardless, with broader perianth segments than the parent species.
