Iris crocea J.G.Baker

Leaves erect, sword-shaped to 3 cm wide, 90 cm long, absent in winter. Stem 100-150 cm tall, few-branched. Flowers 4-5, 12-16 cm wide, golden yellow; late spring to summer. Perianth tube long; falls with 5 cm blade, wavy edge; standards narrower, acute. Capsule 3 angled. I. aurea hort.

I. graminea L., Plum Tart Iris from Europe and SW Asia has a wiry rhizome. Leaves flat, grass-like, to 1 m long, 7-15 mm wide. Stem 30-45 cm tall, flattened, with several spathes. Flowers 2, lilac to blue-violet, fragrant, 8 cm wide; summer. Perianth tube 2-5 mm long; falls 3.5-5 cm long with white signal; standards somewhat shorter.
