Crested Iris

Rhizomes with stolons. Leaves flat, glossy, to 60 cm long. Stems several-branched to 85 cm. tall. Flowers 3-4, 6-8 cm wide, pale blue or white; early spring. Perianth tube 2 cm long; segments all bent downward with frilly margins; falls with an orange crest edged with violet dots. Style branches with deeply fringed lobes. Syn. I. fimbriata.

Australian bred cultivars in this group are: 'Tenchong Lace' and 'Tenchong Princess' and other cultivars include 'Ledger's Variety', 'Uwodu', 'Bourne Graceful', 'Fairyland' and 'Japowatt'.
