Crested Iris

Leaves flat, 1-3 cm wide, about 15 cm long at flowering, elongating later; absent in winter. Stem 10-20 cm tall. Spathes green. Flowers 1-2, almost sessile, 3-5 cm wide, pale lilac-blue to violet; spring. Perianth tube 4-6 cm long; falls with white signal and an orange crest formed by three ridges; standards shorter and narrower. Style branches same colour as perianth. Spring.

Iris cristata 'Alba'

Includes several forms with white flowers, possibly best treated as a cultivar-group.
