Gladiolus gueinzii Kunze

E coast S Africa Perennial HERB 20-60 cm tall. LEAVES waxy blue, slightly succulent, overtopping the stem, 3-5 mm wide. SPIKE zigzag with 2-7 flowers. SPATHE oblong, 2-3 cm long. PERIANTH star-shaped, pale pink to mauve; tube about 1 cm long; segments equal, obtuse, 2-2.5 cm long, each with a purple or maroon dart; late spring. Syn. Acidanthera brevicollis Baker.

Rarely grown in gardens, but is naturalised on sand dunes of the C NSW coast.
