Perennial herb 30-90 cm tall, dormant in summer. Leaves 15-35 cm long. Spike arched with 4-10 flowers in 2 rows, sometimes branched. Spathe boat-shaped, 4-6 cm long. Perianth flesh pink; tube 2-4 cm long; segments abruptly spreading, acute, 3-4 cm long, unequal, the lower 3 shorter and narrower with dark red or purple darts; spring. Anthers 7-9 mm, purple. Syn. G. blandus Aiton.
