Leaves flat, 3-7 mm wide. Stem to 40 cm tall, rough, 1-3 branched. Flowers 2-7, star-shaped, violet-blue with darker stripes; spring. Perianth tube 1-2 mm long; segments equal, spreading, 11-16 mm long, elliptic, acute. Stamens erect, placed symmetrically around style. Syn. G. secunda Ker Gawl.

SW Cape Province.

G. inaequalis L. Bolus from SW Cape Province has leaves flat, 4-10 mm wide. Stem to 25 cm tall, finely papillose, 1-3-branched. Flowers 2-7, star-shaped, pale bluemauve with a white centre; spring. Perianth tube 2-3 mm long; segments equal, spreading, 18-24 mm long, lanceolate, acute. Stamens unequally spaced around style.
