Babiana angustifolia Sweet

Stem erect, bent, 10-20 cm tall. Leaves 5-7, lance-shaped, acute, to 10 cm long, 7-15 mm wide. Spathe 1-2 cm, hairy with brown tip. Bracteoles free. Flowers 5-10, spirally arranged, dark blue-violet, lower lobes marked deep purple at base; spring. Perianth tube 10-17 mm long, curved so that flower is twisted to face top of stem; segments oblong, obtuse, 15-25 mm, slightly unequal or equal. Syn. B. pulchra (Salisb.) G. Lewis.
