Perennial herb from a short perennial corm-like rhizome with fleshy roots. Leaves several, linear, hairy. Inflorescences several, to about 20 cm. Flowers 1-2, starshaped, spreading; spring. Tepals to 15 mm long, bright yellow, generally hairy outside. Fruit ellipsoid. Seeds dark brown.
