Blue Orchid

Robust epiphyte. Stem to 1.5 m long. Leaves strap-shaped, to 25 cm long, to 3 cm wide, leathery, tip notched. Inflorescences to 60 cm long. Flowers 6-15, to 10 cm wide, pale to deep blue; winter. Sepals and petals obovate, clawed. Labellum midlobe linear-oblong, with 2 ridges each terminating in a swelling. Syn. V. caerulea.
