Small to medium sized epilith or rarely epiphyte. Stems to 1 m long, branched. Leaves linear to oblong, to 20 cm long, to 1.5 cm wide, curved, shallowly channelled, dark green. Inflorescences to 20 cm long, arching. Flowers 4?15, to 3.5 cm wide, white to pink with pink to crimson spots and blotches; spring. Sepals and petals elliptic to spoon-shaped. Labellum 3-lobed, glabrous, side lobes erect, midlobe often orange at tip.

S. aequalis D.L. Jones & M.A. Clem. from NSW is a small to medium, semi-erect epilith with erect racemes of flowers that are mostly cream with reddish-brown spots at the base.

S. hartmannii F. Muell. from Qld and NSW is a small to medium, semi-erect epilith or terrestrial with erect or arching racemes of flowers that are mostly white with reddish-brown spots at the base.
