Clown Orchid

Large epiphyte. Pseudobulbs ovoid to spherical, to 10 cm long, compressed. Leaves 2, lanceolate to elliptic, to 40 cm long, to 7 cm wide. Flowers 2?8, to 16 cm wide, long-lived, waxy; autumn to winter. Sepals and petals similar, lanceolate to oblanceolate, petals somewhat wider than sepals, yellow with brown bars and blotches. Labellum violin shaped, obscurely 3-lobed, midlobe margins wavy, white or cream with reddish-brown markings, callus yellow with reddish wings. Syn. Odontoglossum grande Lindl.
