Polystachya pubescens (Lindl.) Rchb.f.

Small to medium sized epiphyte or epilith. Pseudobulbs conical, to 3 cm long, clustered, green. Leaves apical, 2 or 3, lanceolate to elliptic, to 10 cm long, to 2.5 cm wide. Flowers several to many, to 3 cm wide, opening widely, golden yellow with reddish streaks on lateral sepals and labellum; autumn to winter. Labellum 3- lobed, side lobes oblong, silky-hairy, midlobe ovate.

S Africa, Swaziland.

P. bella Summerh. from Kenya is a small to medium epiphyte with racemes or panicles of yellow or golden flowers.

P. zambesiaca Rolfe from Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia is a small epiphyte or epilith with short racemes of mostly greenish-yellow flowers.
