Pholidota imbricata Hook.

Robust epiphyte or epilith. Pseudobulbs cylindrical, to 11 cm long, ribbed, olivegreen. Leaves solitary, ovate to lanceolate, to 50 cm long, to 10 cm wide, leathery. Flowers to 130, to 7 mm wide, spirally arranged, white to brownish, sometimes pinkish; spring to summer. Sepals ovate, free. Petals sickle-shaped. Labellum 3- lobed, base with 2 orange spots, lamina with orange to yellow keels, tip bilobed.

Vietnam to Australia and Fiji.

P. pallida Lindl. has often been confused with P. imbricata, but the former has thinner herbaceous leaves, floral bracts with fewer coarse nerves and lateral sepals that are joined at the base. It is less amenable to cultivation.
