Pholidota chinensis Lindl.

Medium sized epiphyte or epilith. Pseudobulbs ovoid, to 11 cm long, wrinkled with age. Leaves 2, ovate to lanceolate, to 26 cm long, to 6.5 cm wide. Flowers to 33, to 1.5 cm wide, white to greenish, labellum cream; spring to summer. Sepals ovate to elliptic, free. Petals lanceolate. Labellum 3-lobed, side lobes erect, midlobe almost round, entire.

Burma and China.

P. cantonensis Rolfe from China and Taiwan is a compact epiphyte or epilith with short racemes of 10?20 white, almost transparent flowers that have a yellow, entire labellum midlobe.

P. ventricosa (Blume) Rchb. f. from Malaysia, Indonesia and New Guinea is a robust epiphyte or terrestrial with moderately long racemes of 30?90 white, almost transparent flowers that have a 2-lobed labellum midlobe with a yellow patch.
