Phalaenopsis equestris (Schauer) Rchb.f.

Medium sized epiphyte. Stem short. Leaves oblong, to 20 cm long, to 6.5 cm wide, leathery, dark green. Inflorescences to 30 cm long. Flowers many, to 4 cm wide, mostly white or pink with pinkish suffusions; spring to autumn. Sepals elliptic. Petals elliptic, clawed. Labellum 3-lobed, side lobes erect, midlobe ovate, pink to purplish, callus yellow with reddish spots.

Taiwan and Philippines.

P. pulchra (Rchb. f.) H.R. Sweet from the Philippines is a compact epiphyte with racemes of few, deep purplish flowers that are yellowish at the base of the labellum.

P. violacea Witte from Indonesia is a compact epiphyte with racemes of few, white or greenish flowers that are mauve to purplish at the base.
