Lycaste xytriophora Linden & Rchb.f.

Medium sized epiphyte. Pseudobulbs ovoid, to 8 cm long, compressed, tip with spines. Leaves 1-3, lanceolate, to 50 cm long, to 12 cm wide. Flowers solitary, to 10 cm wide; spring to summer. Sepals greenish-brown. Petals usually shorter than sepals, yellowish-green. Labellum 3-lobed, midlobe ovate, white with pink suffusions.

L. locusta Rchb. f. from Peru is a medium sized epiphyte with oblong-ovoid pseudobulbs and solitary pale grey-green flowers to 9 cm wide.

L. longipetala (Ruiz &Pav.) Garay from S America is a medium sized epiphyte with oblong-ovoid pseudobulbs and solitary yellowish-green and brown flowers to 16 cm wide.

L. deppei (Lodd.) Lindl. from Mexico and C America is a medium sized epiphyte or epilith with ovoid pseudobulbs and solitary brownish, white and yellow flowers to 9 cm wide.
