Laelia gouldiana Rchb.f.

Medium sized epiphyte. Pseudobulbs ovoid to pear-shaped, to 12 cm long, ribbed with age. Leaves 2, lanceolate, to 18 cm long, to 3.5 cm wide. Flowers 2-5, to 10 cm wide, usually deep pink to purplish; winter. Sepals lanceolate. Petals elliptic, about twice as wide as sepals. Labellum 3-lobed, side lobes surrounding column, midlobe elliptic, throat white with yellow and purplish markings.

Some authorities treat this species as a natural hybrid between L. autumnalis Lindl. and L. anceps Lindl,  L. הgouldiana.

Mexico.

L. autumnalis Lindl. from Mexico is a medium sized epiphyte with short, 2- or 3-leaved pseudobulbs and racemes of 3-15 mostly pink flowers to 10 cm wide.
