Laelia anceps Lindl.

Robust epiphyte or epilith. Pseudobulbs ovoid, to 10 cm long, compressed or somewhat 4-angled. Leaves 1 or 2, lanceolate, to 15 cm long, to 5 cm wide. Flowers 3-6, to 10 cm wide, usually pink; winter. Sepals lanceolate. Petals elliptic, about twice as wide as sepals. Labellum 3-lobed, funnel-shaped at base, deep purplish with a pink-striped yellow throat.

Mexico, Honduras.

L. albida Lindl. from Mexico is a compact epiphyte with short, 2-leaved pseudobulbs and racemes of 3-8 mostly white flowers to 5 cm wide.

L. rubescens Lindl. from Mexico to Panama is a compact epiphyte with short, 1- or 2-leaved pseudobulbs and racemes of 4-7 mostly white or pinkish flowers to 7 cm wide.
