Gongora galeata (Lindl.) Rchb.f.

Medium sized epiphyte. Pseudobulbs ovoid, to 5 cm long, clustered. Leaves 1 or 2, broad-lanceolate, to 35 cm long, to 5 cm wide. Flowers 10-15, to 5 cm wide, pale yellow or brownish; summer. Sepals ovate, spreading. Petals small, oblong, curved. Labellum 3-lobed, side lobes large and curved inwards, midlobe pouched, yellowgreen with purple spots. Column slightly winged.

G. armeniaca (Lindl. & Paxton) Rchb. f. from C America is a medium sized epiphyte with pendent racemes of showy yellow, orange or salmon coloured flowers.
