Wax-lip Orchid

Slender terrestrial to 30 cm tall. Leaf lanceolate, to 10 cm long, to 1 cm wide, erect. Flowers 1?3, to 5 cm wide, mostly mauve or purple, white at base; spring. Sepals and petals ovate to lanceolate. Labellum ovate with a pointed tip, calli entirely fused except for a notch at tip.

SE Australia.

G. minor R. Br. from SE Australia is similar to G. major but has smaller flowers with the labellum calli fused at the base only.
