Epidendrum pseudepidendrum (Rchb.f.) Rchb.f.

Robust epiphyte. Stems robust, to 1 m long, simple. Leaves many, 2-ranked, oblong to oblanceolate, to 20 cm long, to 4.5 cm wide, dark green. Flowers 1?3, to 6 cm wide, apple green, labellum orange-red, yellow at base; summer to autumn. Sepals and petals similar, oblanceolate, spreading. Labellum simple, almost round, margins wavy, fringed.

Costa Rica, Panama.

E. rigidum Jacq. from the West Indies, N, C and S America is a medium sized epiphyte with cane-like stems and many small, green or yellowish flowers with entire labellum.
