Small epiphyte. Pseudobulbs cylindrical, to 8 cm long, clustered. Leaves solitary, terete, to 55 cm long, to 1 mm wide, enclosing stalk of inflorescence. Flowers many, to 4 mm wide, in 2 alternate ranks, white to pale yellow. Sepals and petals similar, oblong to elliptic. Labellum 3-lobed, side lobes oblong, erect, midlobe almost round with an apical point, labellum white to red; flowering most of year.
D. wenzelii Ames is a small to medium sized epiphyte with solitary leaves on narrow spindle-shaped pseudobulbs and long, dense, many flowered inflorescences of usually greenish-yellow to red flowers.
