Dendrobium moschatum (Buch.-Ham.) Sweet.

Robust epiphyte. Pseudobulbs cylindrical, to 2 m long, erect to pendent. Leaves numerous, elliptic or ovate, to 15 cm long, to 3.5 cm wide, leathery, falling after 2 years. Flowers 7-15, to 8 cm wide, yellow or apricot with purplish veins. Sepals elliptic. Petals elliptic, wider than sepals. Labellum almost round, concave, margins curved in, hairy.

Occasionally cultivated is:

D. pulchellum Roxb. which has pale yellow flowers that are suffused with pale pink and the labellum has 2 prominent reddish blotches near the base, throat of labellum with 2 reddish blotches; spring to summer.

India, Burma,Thailand and Laos.
