Dendrobium fimbriatum Hook.

Robust epiphyte. Pseudobulbs spindle-shaped, to 2 m long, erect to pendent. Leaves numerous, strap-shaped, to 15 cm long, to 3 cm wide, soon falling. Flowers 7-15, to 8 cm wide, orange-yellow; spring. Sepals ovate. Petals ovate, usually wider than sepals. Labellum almost round, funnel-shaped at base, margins fringed.

var. fimbriatum has the throat of the labellum orange-yellow.

var. oculatum Hook. has the throat of the labellum dark brown.

Occasionally cultivated is:

D. gibsonii Lindl., which is similar to D. fimbriatum but the plants and flowers are smaller and there are 2 brownish blotches at the base of the labellum.
