Small epiphyte. Stems compressed, to 25 cm long, fleshy, concealed by leaf-bases. Leaves numerous, in 2 ranks, more or less triangular, to 2 cm long, to 1 cm wide, fleshy. Flowers few, to 1.5 cm wide, in upper leaf axils, fragrant, green or yellow, sometimes purplish outside; spring to summer. Sepals ovate. Petals ovate, smaller than sepals. Labellum entire, oblong, callus terminal, warty.
Occasionally cultivated are:
D. aloifolium (Blume) Rchb. f., which has only bractlike leaves at the apices of the stems where the tiny white flowers are produced.
D. indivisum (Blume) Miq., which has many small flowers with a fleshy bilobed callus at the base of the labellum.
