Cryptostylis subulata (Labill.) Rchb.f.

Large Tongue Orchid

Robust terrestrial to 80 cm tall. Leaves lanceolate, to 35 cm long, to 3 cm wide, erect, green above and below. Flowers 5?20, to 3.5 cm long, yellowish-green, labellum red at tip grading to yellowish at base, callus black; spring to summer. Sepals and petals inconspicuous, very narrow. Labellum oblong, pointing obliquely downwards, margins curved to form a tube, prominent 2-lobed callus at tip.
