Robust epiphyte or epilith. Pseudobulbs cylindrical, to 15 cm long, tapering at each end. Leaves 2-several, lanceolate to ovate, to 15 cm long, to 4 cm wide. Flowers few-many, to 7 cm wide, mostly pale lilac with reddish spots on labellum; winter. Sepals lanceolate to elliptic. Petals ovate to nearly round. Labellum ovate to elliptic, tip pointed to notched. Syn. Epidendrum spectabile (Lindl.) Rchb.f.
