Commemorating J.D. Choisy (1799–1859), a Swiss botanist and philosopher.
Shrubs. Leaves opposite, palmately divided with 3-15 leaflets. Flowers in terminal or axillary clusters, occasionally solitary. Petals 5, white. Stamens 10 in 2 whorls. Ovary of 5 carpels united at the base. Fruit a 3-5-valved capsule.
Grown for the fragrant flowers and neat ornamental foliage.
